Beautiful Darkside

A song from the album Phoenix by The Classic Crime

The faster I find the bottom
The sooner I turn it around
It seems as though I forgot
Just how far down
That I can go in an instant
And I can take you there
And I can take all my friends and family and I won’t care

Cause I have the most reckless heart when I try
I have the most beautiful darkside
I need to find some meaning
Something true to believe in
Cause left to my own devices
The Beautiful darkside wins
The beautiful darkside wins

Always one for a good time
Always one for extremes
Until the fabric of life starts tearing at the seams
And I can never remember
When it started to turn
I just simply forget all of the things I’ve learned

Cause I have the most reckless heart when I try
I have the most beautiful darkside
I need to find some meaning
Something true to believe in
Cause left to my own devices
The Beautiful darkside wins
The beautiful darkside wins

Some day I will die (Have I just…)
Could be today or tonight (…Wasted time?)
The truth is I’m terrified
Have I just wasted time?
Wasted time
Have I just wasted time?

Cause I have the most reckless heart when I try
I have the most beautiful darkside
I need to find some meaning
Something true to believe in
I’m terrified of seeing
The beautiful darkside win
The beautiful darkside win

Oh Anberlin my Anberlin

Anberlin's discography

Anberlin’s discography

Tribute to one of the greatest bands on Earth!

They say the human body is 70% water. Well, mine’s 85% music [hmm… Maybe I’m not human after all]; it’s a huge part of my life. And that’s why it’s always [more than] sad when one of my favorite bands decided to ‘take permanent breaks’ and stop writing music.

I remember the first Anberlin song I heard; ‘the feel good drag’… I think that was the time I was getting into that type if rock; with heavy guitars and immense word play. It was pretty cool, and along with Emery I had found my best bands in rock.

The lyrics Stephen Christian (the lead singer) writes are simply genius; they’re all up on Tumblr with their meanings.

I’m gonna miss that band. Well, at least the ‘waiting for new music’ part.

The Way That You Are – The Classic Crime

He gets his information
From overhearing conversations
Doesn’t ask questions
Doesn’t learn any lessons

And he keeps his mouth shut
‘Til he bowls over and he blows up
And then he can’t form his words right
They don’t fit together so tight

And I hope to God
That He will find his name
And not listen to his so-called friends
When they so boldly say

This is the way that you are
Don’t let them say
This is the way that you are

She doesn’t have much to say
About yesterday
Or what happened to her
When she was eight

So she drinks a lot
And it her makes feel okay
For the moment
But it’s gone when she awakes

And I hope you know that
Someone out there loves you
So dont give yourself away
And dont listen to them when they say

This is the way that you are
Don’t let them say
This is the way that you are
No

This is the way that you are
Don’t let them say
This is the way that you are

Don’t let them say
This is the way, this is the way
This is the way that you are

Don’t let them say
This is the way
This is the way that you are

Song of the Month: The Movie Song by Emery

So here’s a song for all the people in the friend-zone and all the gentlemen (and ladies) who do things because it’s right; even if sometimes the reality is that they’re being used. For chivalry!!

I’m the guy that dies at the beginning of the movie.
I’m the one who never makes it out of the cave.
It’s because just when I have got everything going
for me baby, you come around and take it all away.

It’s true, I’d do anything for you.

She asked if this is cool.
What did you say?
I played it like a fool.
Oh, no!
It’s like I’ve said before, I could die tonight
for just one kiss more.

On the brink, about to sink.
I’m drowning baby and I can’t think
Of a way to pull myself back to shore.
It’s your face I can’t take,
and my knees are about to buckle
The same way as they did
the night you walked through my door.

It’s true, I’d do anything for you.

She asked if this is cool.
What did you say?
I played it like a fool.
Oh, no!
It’s like I’ve said before, I could die tonight
for just one kiss more.

Every time my eyes are closing there is just one word.
Once it’s spoken, my eyes open,
and I’m yours to serve.

When your world tries
to blow itself up from the inside,
I will dig a foxhole for two.
So you know that I will always be there for you,
And maybe you would find a love for me too.

It’s true, I’d do anything for you.

She asked if this is cool.
What did you say?
I played it like a fool.
Oh, no!
It’s like I’ve said before, I could die tonight
for just one kiss more.

One kiss more.
Oh, my darling.
My love, just one.
Just one.
Just one.

Yesterdays – Switchfoot

Ok, I wanted to do another awesome post but I’m literally drowning in work; system analysis and design is just below what we’d call overwhelming. But I’ll tell you what. I dedicate this song to all those who have lost their loved ones they’ve lost abruptly (like how I lost my dad on this day 6 years ago) then tomorrow I do a post on my last moments with my dad. I’ve never told anyone but some really freaky stuff happened between the 15th and the 21st of March in 2006.

Anyway, Switchfoot’s “Yesterdays” …get the song on iTunes. Its awesome.

Now, I have a system to design within 24 hrs.

Flowers cut and brought inside
Black cars in a single line
Your family in suits and ties
And you’re free

The ache I feel inside
Is where the life has left your eyes
I’m alone for our last goodbye
But you’re free

I remember you like yesterday, yesterday
I still can’t believe you’re gone, oh…
I remember you like yesterday, yesterday
And until I’m with you, I’ll carry on

Adrift on your ocean floor
I feel weightless, numb, and sore
A part of you in me is torn
And you’re free

I woke from a dream last night
I dreamt that you were by my side
Reminding me I still had life
In me

I’ll carry on

Every lament is a love song
Yesterday, yesterday
I still can’t believe you’re gone
So long my friend, so long

Deathbed

Now how did I not put this song up? Relient K have a long, but nice story to tell…

I can smell the death on the sheets
Covering me
I can’t believe this is the end

But this is my deathbed
I lie here alone
If I close my eyes tonight
I know I’ll be home

The year was nineteen forty one
I was eight years old and

Far far too young

To know that the stories
Of battles and glory
Was a tale a kind mother
Made up for her son
You see
Dad was a traveling preacher
Teaching the words of the Teacher
But mother had sworn
Went off to the war
And died there with honor
Somewhere on a beach there
But he left once to never return
Which taught me that I should unlearn
Whatever I thought a father should be
I abandoned that thought
Like he abandoned me

By forty seven I was fourteen
I’d acquired a taste for liquor and nicotine
I smoked until I threw up
Yet I still lit ’em up for thirty more years
Like a machine

So right there you have it
That one filthy habit
Is what got me where I am today

I can smell the death on the sheets
Covering me
I can’t believe this is the end
I can hear those sad memories
Still haunting me
So many things
I’d do again

But this is my deathbed
I lie here alone
If I close my eyes tonight
I know I’ll be home

I got married on my twenty first
Eight months before my wife would give birth
It’s easier to be sure you love someone
When her father inquires with the barrel of a gun
The union was far from harmonious
No two people could have been more alone than us
The years would go by and she’d love someone else
And I realized I hadn’t been loved yet myself

From there it’s your typical spiel
Yeah if life was a highway
I was drunk at the wheel
I was helping the loose ends
All fall apart
Yeah I swear I was destined to fail
And fail from the start

Unfinished Memories

I saw you yesterday
I didn’t know that it would be the last time
You said my name
You walked away
A Moments lost but never once forgotten

But one day I’ll see you face to face
Then we’ll say things we meant to say
It’s too late for now but not always
We’ll meet again and then we’ll start from these unfinished memories

I cannot change that day
Go back erase what happened
Ease the pain
There’s none to blame
No steps to take and even though we may not understand

But one day I’ll see you face to face

Then we’ll say things we meant to say
It’s too late for now but not always
We’ll meet again and then we’ll start from these unfinished memories

these unfinished memories

Boxing Day..

Take it all down, Christmas is over
But do not despair, but rather be glad
We had a good year, now let’s have another
Remembering all the good times that we had

Oh no more lights glistening
No more carols to sing
But Christmas, it makes way for
spring
Through hearts of man are bitter in weather
As cold as the snow that falls from above
But just for one day we all came together
We showed the whole world that we know how to love
Oh no more lights glistening
No more carols to sing
But Christmas, it makes way for
spring
Oh no more lights glistening
No more carols to sing
Christmas, it makes way for spring
Oh remember that Christmas, it makes way for spring.

I celebrate the day – Relient K

And with this Christmas wish is missed
The point I could convey
If only I could find the words to say to let You know how much
You’ve touched my life
Because here is where You’re finding me, in the exact same place as New Year’s eve
And from a lack of my
persistency
We’re less than half as close as I want to be

And the first time
That You opened Your eyes did You realize that You would be
my Savior
And the first breath that left Your lips
Did You know that it would change this world forever

And so this Christmas I’ll compare the things I felt in prior years
To what this midnight made so clear
That You have come to meet me here
To look back and think that
This baby would one day save me
In the hope that what You did
That you were born so I might live
To look back and think that
This baby would one day save me

And I, I celebrate the day
That You were born to die
So I could one day pray for You to save my life

For Those Who Wait – Fireflight

This is for those who wait

Another day, another waiting game
A little different but it’s still the same
I am here, but where’s the one I’m longing for?
I’m having trouble feeling all alone
Will my heart ever find a home?
I want to hope but sometimes I just don’t know
I know I’m not the only one

So we sing a lullaby to the lonely hearts tonight
Let it set your heart on fire, let it set you free
When you’re fighting to believe
In a love that you can’t see
Just know there is a purpose
For those who wait

I want to open up my eyes
I know that all I need is time
I’m growing stronger every single day
God, I’m going to lean into You now
Letting go of all my fear and doubt
I can’t do this on my own so I’ll give You control
I know I’m not the only one

The pressure makes us stronger
The struggle makes us hunger
The hard lessons make the difference
The pressure makes us stronger
The struggle makes us hunger
The hard lessons make the difference
And the difference makes it worth it

So we sing a lullaby to the lonely hearts tonight
Let it set your heart on fire, let it set you free
When you’re fighting to believe
In a love that you can’t see
Just know there is a purpose
For those who wait…
(Set your heart on fire…)
This is for those who wait…
